I arrived in Fairbanks in 1972, and watched our log house being built. The smell of fresh cut logs and wood became a part of me, and I have been immersed in it as often as possible ever since. At first, it was simple stuff inspired by necessity and the occasional " Honey, can you fix this?" Then, a few years ago, I built a set of stairs out of a single, 16-foot tree. The word got out, and soon it was awnings, shelves, cabinets, and all the stuff you see on this website. JB's Boardworks became an official business in 2007- 2 years after it all started in Anchorage. Since then, a lot has happened and the business has grown, requiring a shop up-sizing, and keeping me busy. I like to create new and unique things, as opposed to everyday items. All the items posted here were thought up by the people who purchased them (except for the Science Center- I built that for my son, the aspiring scientist- and the knick knack shelves), and custom- built by yours truly. Feel free to e-mail me or call with ideas, questions, or requests. Be sure to check out my "Current Projects" page- it will show you what I'm up to lately! JBM |
